Chemical Engineering Tenure-track Faculty Positions

The Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions preferably at- but not restricted to the Assistant Professor level. We seek outstanding candidates who are committed to excellence in both research and education, and who want to join a premier chemical engineering department well positioned to meet the challenges of the 21st century. In 2008, the department underwent a $27 million renovation of its experimental facilities and office spaces. The new facilities support strong faculty groups devoted to biological, fluids, envirochemical, systems, materials, and energy research. The budget of this research program has doubled over the past four years, along with an increasing interaction with the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory, which is located nearby.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. One of the two positions is 100% in Chemical Engineering.

Applicants with a strong articulated interest in policy should apply for the other position, a 50/50 joint appointment with the Department of Engineering and Public Policy. Applications should be submitted electronically, as a single PDF file containing a CV, a statement of research and teaching interests, and the names of at least four references to Professor Nick Sahinidis, E-mail: sahinidis@cmu.edu. Applications received before November 1, 2009 will receive immediate attention; applications also will be accepted thereafter until the positions are filled. Carnegie Mellon University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.
